Left4Dead Update Released

A few days old now but for anyone that hasn't been paying attention Valve have recently released an update for Left4Dead that addresses a number of issues with multiplayer play. A short guide is given below along with a link to the full SteamPowered news item which details the complete list of changes.

  • Fixed Survivors being able to climb surfaces marked for versus infected only
  • Fixed a class of SurvivorBot bugs dealing with rescuing downed players
  • Players can no longer grab ladders while flying through the air after a Tank punch
  • Shooting near a car with an alarm that has already fired the alarm will no longer make chirping noises
  • Improved loading time

Race 4 Life

Left 4 Dead at BeGamer shall be a little different tonight, we shall be playing Race4Life rules. It's a slightly more structured version of the 'last man standing' or 'l4d' rules that some of you play, where it's every man for himself. All you need to do is be in #begamer this evening and jump in games with us. To give you an idea of what Race4Life is, here's a poster for you.

Edit: If you're wanting to play tonight, you will need a mic else it ruins it for the other players

 
 

L4D Tournament Round-Up

First of all thanks to all the teams for participating in our first L4D tournament, whilst there were a few issues we had to cope with, I hope you had a good time. The final was played by Team Multiplay and mi5 and here's a recap of the matches to get them here.

It's yet to be decided what we shall be doing next week, perhaps mix it up a little, however what can be assured is that the issue that arose this week will not happen again.

In the first round Team Dignitas lost to Team Multiplay: 5979 v 5603

TiTGaming also had their brains eaten despite a good start after incapacitating the entire team in one hit on the first level, European Rejects going through to play Multiplay in the next round

L4D Tournament Details

Ok, so lets get the basics out of the way first.

Map - No mercy, all 5 parts from start to finish

8pm GMT start for the matches so please be in #begamer before then

In terms of rules, we should be able to keep this nice and simple - ultimately there will be no lame,glitching or abusive behaviour.This includes but is not limited to, bugging the tank through hitting inanimate objects, fast-melee, spawning more infected, entering the saferoom as a tank (this includes the helicopter, other infected is ok) , camping in places that are game-breaking ie, under the ramp on the No Mercy finale and breaking through the metal door on No Mercy sewer level. If there's anything you're unsure about, please ask first rather than try it out and find everyone shouts at you for doing it!

The choice of side first will be decided in #begamer by flipping a coin!

We will be providing 4 servers courtesy of Multiplay.co.uk for your use - and will announce the search key in #begamer.

Both teams must be in game before survivors leave the safe room.
 

Please remember to record demos of all your matches! In the console type "record demoname" and it will number each chapter for you
